Semester-long seminar for University of Cincinnati instructors of English. Covered readings & critical work in pedagogical, sociological, and rhetorical theory; preparation of teaching materials; included discussion, reflection, teaching demonstrations, and in-class observation.

ENG 6370: Pedagogy of Creative Writing

Semester-long seminar for BGSU graduate assistants in Creative Writing. Covered readings & critical work in pedagogical, sociological, and poetic theory; preparation of teaching materials & prompts.

ENG 6020: Composition Instructors’ Workshop

Two-semester-long seminar for BGSU graduate assistants in English. Covered readings & critical work in pedagogical, sociological, and rhetorical theory; preparation of teaching materials; included in-class observation, weekly meetings with mentor, and collaborative teaching projects.

ENG 197: Seminar in Teaching Writing

Semester-long seminar for Drake University students interested in teaching writing. Covered readings & critical work in pedagogical and sociological theory, as well as the construction of a sample course, syllabus, and lesson plans. Course included an internship with Des Moines Public Schools as a writing mentor for high school students, consisting of weekly meetings and electronic correspondence over essay drafting and revision and literary theory.

ENG 172: Seminar in Teaching & Tutoring Writing

Semester-long seminar for Drake University Writing Center tutors. Covered readings & critical work in pedagogical and sociological theory, including topics such as promoting fluency, critical analysis, responding to cultural differences, teaching revision, etc. Included practical observation and individual meetings with mentor.
